Huron Street Studios Liability Waiver
Hotshop Health and Safety Regulations
Safety is our first priority. Hot glass is an inherently dangerous material. In order to safely interact with the materials and equipment at Huron Street Studios it is imperative that guests familiarize themselves with the following safety measures and guidelines.
First and foremost any guests present in the hot shop are expected to listen closely to the directions and instructions of Huron Street Studios employees. Our glassblowing technicians will provide clear and specific instructions on where to stand, what actions to take and how to safely execute movements and utilize any tools. Guests are expected to listen closely, and follow these instructions implicitly, for the safety of everyone present. Any guest who is not following verbal instructions will be asked to leave at management's discretion.
Additionally:
Huron Street Studios is an inclusive environment. All individuals within the premises are to be treated with respect and courtesy. Anyone acting in a manner not aligned with these values will be asked to leave at management’s discretion.
Eye protection must be worn when working with glass or assisting others.
Close-toed shoes and appropriate clothing are required in all work areas.
Long hair should be tied back. Avoid any loose fitting clothing or dangling jewelry.
There is no smoking allowed anywhere in the building.
We do not recommend consuming alcohol prior to interacting with hot glass. Guests who choose to consume alcohol on the premises do so at their own risk. Anyone who appears to be impaired will be asked to leave or reschedule at management’s discretion.
The First aid kit is located near the door between the hotshop and gallery.
Any injury, including a burn, should be immediately reported to staff.
Huron Street Studios is not responsible for lost/stolen property.
If a fire alarm sounds, please stop what you are doing, leave by the closest exit and walk to a safe location. Wait for the message that we are cleared to re-enter the building.
Any dangerous behavior that puts the user, other people, tools, and equipment at risk is unacceptable.
Any material (such as broken glass on the floor), piece of equipment or tool in the hot shop is potentially hot. Do not touch any materials, equipment or tools without explicit instruction to do so.
